Chile, then and now.

For the last week or so, I have been combing all the information coming in from Chile. By Tuesday we had heard from most of our friends there, all are okay, just missing clean water and power. Everyone’s definition of ‘okay’ is different but hearing that they are safe with roofs over their heads is relief for now. The loss of life is luckily low, but the infrastructure and physical damage are nearly impossible to recover from…

IMGP0793The geography around ConcepcĂ­on is harsh, the coastal areas are hilly, and the coast is sprinkled with fishing villages like Penco, Tome, Dichato and Caleta Tumbes, with houses built haphazardly along the beach and the hills above. These are picturesque places, when you draw a picture in your head of a quaint fishing village, it will look alot like these places.
