Viva Chile!
I have just returned from the last month in Chile working… I love it. Very busy, but we still had time to relax every 14 or so days…
It’s also nice to come home, especially when Melissa is waiting here. Maybe next time we can go together!
What I saw in Chile:
- Stray Dogs
- Hot Dogs
- Great Wine
- Rain. Rain. Rain.
- Huge Carrots.
- Many Late nights
- Wayy too much of Ruta 5.
I stayed in the following cities:
- Concepcion, 2nd largest metro area next to Santiago. Largest university. Windy but sunny in the spring. Good food, great clubs. Close to the coast, nice beaches. American supermall right next to the Holiday Inn, you can be as american as you want! Staying downtown is better, with more authentic restaurants and stores. Go the the university and wander around, it’s beautiful there!
- Valdivia, somewhat touristy southern town. German influence, from music to food to houses to hotels to beer. Go to Kunzmann brewery if you are ever there! Also an excellent fish market, amazing restaurants, another university town with plenty of trendy bars. Beautiful drive either way back to Ruta 5.
- Osorno, the next big thing. But, for now it is a place with much potential, beautiful old mansions that nobody can afford to fix. Again, great restaurants.
- Pucon, Jasper with a volcano (Villarica) and a lake (Villarica). A mountain town with great restaurants, tourists, some great views and hot springs nearby.
Next Time:
- More time in Santiago
- A visit to Puerto Montt
- Too much time in Osorno
- Too much sushi in Osorno!
Pictures to be posted shorty!
