Update, long time comin’

So what’s up?

So many updates. This last 2 months has been so crazy, it’s hard to sum it up.

But let me try:

  • Melissa’s dad passed away of terminal cancer on September 24th. Since August, Melissa has been at home (in Edmonton). We are all destroyed by this; those of you who know us know this already.
  • My work contract is done in Kamloops, so I have moved back home to Edmonton to be with family and concentrate on the important things.
  • We bought a 1974 Unimog 416 with a camper and expedition pedigree.
  • We are in the process of fixing the Unimog up; it is in great shape, but we gotta make it our own! Pictures will follow soon!
  • I fly to Conception, Chile next Monday for business! Hopefully I have the cojones to bring my 40D and take some pics.
  • I will be travelling around North and Latin America for work until we leave, and hopefully will be taking pictures and writing as much as I can.
  • Melissa will be going to Holland again in the spring, I wish I could go but we’ll see….

Melissa, Diane and I wish to express our sincere condolences to you and your family on the passing of your Father.
Your wondering who is ………..Spanish class nearly a year ago with Emma.
I have not been following your odessey but once in a blue moon remember to check and see the progress. Thought you would have been in Central America by now, but things change.
I agree, the Unimog seems safer quarters, having the driving compartment accessible from the sleeping area makes for hasty departures should the need arise. The reason that I like motorhomes over trailers.
Our Spanish?? Essentially non-existant, will try again soon. I do have granddaughter Samanta (age 2½) bidding everyone, “Hasta luego” when she departs.
    Anyhow, Hasta luego.

I forgot to mention that I saw your Unimog pass by the house a while back. I didn’t know that it was yours though.

    Hey Mike/Melissa,

Mind my asking, but what have you folks done with the Unimog in your absence? I’ve been following your blog off and on since I originally spotted it on the Expedition Portal and it got me a bit curious.

In case you guys can’t reply here (or I don’t see it), it’d be great if you could shoot me an email (c_kirzinger@hotmail.com).

    Cheers and safe travels,

    Corey
