Trip Report: A Walk along Kamloops Lake
Last weekend, my friends Mario and Dale and I made ourselves get out of bed and try to become less fat by walking. I’m not sure if it worked or not, but I do know we wore out poor Wailin. Any of you who come to visit will have to come see the Tranquille Farm. A modern ghost town, closed since the 80s with a history dating back to the 1880s, it is just plain creepy.
We started our walk along the train tracks, which skirt the Tranquille property, and clutch to the side of the hills on the North side of Kamloops Lake. Wailin quickly developed a skill where he could hop from one tie to another, absolutely avoiding touching ground at all costs. His hard work was wasted when we strayed from the tracks to climb around the tunnel skirting the lake. There Dale showed us the preferrred cliff-diving rocks, which we didn’t test. We also saw the fattest Marmot I have ever seen. From there we wandered on the beach, chatting with nearby fishermen and just being dudes.
After that it was back to the truck and down to the entrance of the Farm, where you can get a real good look at the old buildings. Something about this place just feels wierd.
Once we were at the lake again, we tried to find where that nasty carcass smell was coming from, however all we ended up doing is making more nasty jokes.
